FIBARO DOOR/WINDOW SENSOR

FIBARO DOOR/WINDOW SENSOR

The Door/window sensor is a battery powered reed sensor. It’s operation under the z-wave standard guarantees compatibility with the Fibaro system. The sensor expands the capabilities of the system by monitoring the opening of doors, windows and garage doors. It is used in automatic light control, access control and property protection systems. Installation of the Door / Window Sensor in your home increases the safety and comfort of its inhabitants. It also eliminates the risk of high fees for heating or air conditioning. In addition, the module can be equipped with a temperature sensor, and use the built-in binary input.

My experience with the Fibaro products has been nothing but exceptional, and during my testing which included 5 other motion/multi sensors the Fibaro stood on top as the clear winner.

As far as setup and general easy getting the Fibaro connected to my z-wave network, the instructions in the manual proved to be extremely accurate and helpful. There was no issue getting it linked up and it showed up in my home automation hub (home assistant) without issue.

The Fibaro looks different and has a unique design - it is a sphere. It is small and lightweight. It has an LED eye that lights up (if you desire) to indicate something has passed through its detection field. But most importantly, it works! I have it connected to my SmartThings system and it integrates well with the other things. I use it principally for motion detection - to turn on a light in the kitchen when someone walks in. However, I also use it for Lux so that I'm not turning on lights when it is already bright enough in the house. I know it can also detect movement (even earthquakes), but I don't have a use case for that feature right now. Overall- it is a great device and for me, was worth the extra money.

Love the Fibaro Motion Sensor. I installed it to activate some strip lights that I installed on the steps inside my bedroom. The goal is to have the steps light up at night as a safety feature to prevent tripping on the steps. It paired easily with my Smartthings controller. Almost all of the settings were supported via the app on my phone. The one thing I had to go into the API to tweak was the interval at which motion was checked. I need almost immediate detection of motion so that the steps light up as you approach, not 10-15 seconds later. As a result I changed the motion sensor wake interval from the default (15 seconds) to 2 seconds. To conserve the battery I changed a setting to ensure that the motion sensor only wakes when the room is dark. Works perfectly!
